I find myself at UAB Starbucks, with too much caffeine and far too much on my mind. As I have made significant strides in my coursework in the last four hours, it is for the first time in quite a while not front and center....

This past week I had the unexpected and blissful surprise of staying home with Evie and Graham all day Thursday and Friday. I know this may not sound earth-shaking to the sea of blogging, sewing, crafting stay at home mommies out there, but as I am one who balancse full-time school, part-time work and motherhood, these two days were a one of a kind experience for me as of late.

I LOVED EVERY SECOND.

It was such an amazing thing, just sitting with them... No schedule, no time restraints. Just me and them-just us. I was intoxicated by the beauty of just inhaling every sweet breath with my sweet Evie Kate and snuggle wumpus Graham.

At times, I feel a twinge of guilt in not staying at home with my children during their first few years of life. I have to constantly remind myself I am doing the right thing: finishing my degree and preparing myself to make a better life for them in the longrun. Likewise, I hope to be a living, breathing testament of their own pursuit of higher education regardless of circumstance.

But, back to my days with the two greatest people on this planet.....

At the ripe old age of 21 months, these guys are growing and learning like weeds and sponges. Everyday there is a new discovery be it how to unlock the "child-proof" cabinet lock or stack 10 toilet paper rolls upon one another. Evie has taken center stage requiring full eye contact and attention as she sings, dances and chats about everything imaginable. She has an unwavering love for animals and books and is quite insistent in your cooperation with the reading and discussion of both. She loves to disassemble and reassemle everything, snapping her high chair straps, emptying and filling containers, and throwing everything into the trash can.

Graham remains my sweet mommy's boy with the warmest smile, deepest  baby blue eyes and heart-melting hugs. His best friend and greatest comfort is none other than the Sesame Street celebrity, Big Bird which he calls "Buddy". Graham enjoys building with blocks and arranging objects according to color, shape and size.

I am loving every day, every new discovery and being a part of each and every one.

I am so blessed, so thankful.
